Effective date: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use CompareItFirst.com (the “Site”), how it is used, and the choices you have. The Site is operated by Jules Media LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we”, “us”, “our”). Questions and privacy requests: hello@jules.media.
The short version
- You can use CompareItFirst without creating an account or giving us your name or email address.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking on the Site.
- When you click a link to a store, we count the click without storing your IP address or setting a cookie. The store and its affiliate network may then use their own cookies to credit us for your purchase.
- Our hosting provider and the servers that deliver product photos process technical data such as IP addresses, as happens on almost every website.
- You complete purchases on the retailer’s own website, under the retailer’s privacy policy, not ours.
Information we collect
1. Store-link clicks
When you click a link that takes you to a retailer, the link first passes through our Site (links that look like compareitfirst.com/go/…). At that moment we record:
- which offer, product and store you clicked, and the price shown at the time;
- the date and time of the click;
- the domain name of the website you came from, if your browser provides it (for example, “youtube.com”), but not the full address of that page;
- whether you were using a mobile or a desktop device; and
- a short campaign label, if the link you followed contained one (for example, a label identifying one of our videos).
This click record does not include your IP address, your browser’s full identification string, or any cookie, and we do not use it to identify you. Your browser’s identification string is checked at the moment of the click only to filter out search-engine robots, and is not saved. Clicks by logged-in site staff are not counted.
We use click records to understand which products and stores shoppers find useful, to improve the Site, and to reconcile the commissions that retailers and affiliate networks report to us. At present, click records are kept without a fixed deletion date. We intend to limit them to 24 months and will update this policy when that limit is in place.
2. Searches
When you type in the search box, the text is sent to our server to find matching products and show suggestions. We do not keep a search history linked to you. To keep the Site fast, the results for a given search term may be cached for a few minutes, without any information about who searched. Search terms can also appear in the hosting logs described below, because they are part of the web address your browser requests.
3. Hosting and server logs
The Site is hosted by Hostinger. Requests to the Site pass through Hostinger’s servers and network infrastructure, including its edge (content-delivery) servers. Like almost every web host, these systems automatically process technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used to deliver pages, keep the Site secure and prevent abuse. Hostinger keeps this information according to its own practices; see Hostinger’s privacy policy.
4. Emails you send us
The Site has no contact form, newsletter or account registration. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply to you, handle your request and keep a record of our correspondence. Our email is hosted by Google. We keep emails for as long as needed to deal with your request and for our reasonable business records.
5. Information from retailers and affiliate networks
When a purchase or other qualifying action follows a click from our Site, the retailer or affiliate network may report it to us so that we can be paid a commission. These reports can include details such as the items bought, order value, date and commission amount, and sometimes general location information. We do not receive your payment details, and these reports are not intended to tell us who you are.
6. Sponsors and advertisers
Brands sometimes pay us to sponsor our videos or to feature their products on the Site (see our Affiliate Disclosure). We do not give sponsors or advertisers your personal information. If we share results with a sponsor, such as how many times a featured product was viewed or clicked, we share them only as totals that do not identify you.
Cookies and similar technologies
On our Site. CompareItFirst does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies, pixels or similar tools. WordPress, the software the Site runs on, uses a small number of cookies and browser-storage entries that are needed for it to work:
- login and settings cookies, which are set only for site staff who sign in to manage the Site, and a test cookie set if anyone opens the login page; and
- a temporary browser-storage entry (
wpEmojiSettingsSupports) that WordPress uses to check whether your browser can display emoji. It contains no personal information and is cleared when you close the browser tab.
Our store-link redirect (/go/…) does not set a cookie. Our hosting provider’s network may set technical cookies in some situations, for example to protect the Site against automated attacks.
Retailers and affiliate networks. After you click through to a store, the store and the affiliate network that manages the link may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device. They do this to record that you arrived from CompareItFirst so that we can be credited for a qualifying purchase, and for their own purposes. This happens on their websites and is governed by their privacy and cookie policies. The programs we currently participate in are listed in our Affiliate Disclosure, and include the Amazon Associates Program (see Amazon’s Privacy Notice) and impact.com (see impact.com’s privacy policy).
Content loaded from other websites. Product photos on our pages are loaded directly from the servers of the retailers and brands that supplied them (for example, Amazon’s image servers). When your browser loads a photo, that server receives standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the address of the page you are viewing, and it may handle that information under its own policies. On some older browsers, WordPress may also load emoji images from WordPress.org. We do not control how these third parties use that information. The Site does not currently embed videos or social-media widgets.
Your controls. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking retailer or affiliate cookies will not stop you from using CompareItFirst or buying from a store, although it may stop us from being credited for your purchase.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because the Site does not track visitors across other websites or sell or share personal information for advertising, we do not change how the Site works when your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. If that changes, we will update this policy and honor these signals where the law requires.
How we use information
- To run the Site, show prices and send you to the store you choose.
- To understand, in aggregate, which products and stores are useful to shoppers, and to improve the Site.
- To keep the Site secure and prevent fraud, abuse and invalid clicks.
- To receive and reconcile affiliate commissions and report aggregate results to sponsors.
- To answer your emails and handle privacy requests.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:
- with service providers that help us operate the Site and our business, such as our hosting provider (Hostinger) and email provider (Google), who process it to provide their services to us;
- if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, us or others; and
- as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to information we hold.
When you click a store link, you leave our Site and go directly to the retailer. We do not pass your name, email address or other contact details to retailers, affiliate networks, sponsors or advertisers.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, for our legal and accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. Click records are kept as described in section 1, emails as described in section 4, and hosting logs according to Hostinger’s practices.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to or limit certain uses. Because we collect very little information that identifies you, in most cases the only personal information we hold is what you send us by email. To make a request, email hello@jules.media with the subject line “Privacy request.” We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.
Visitors outside the United States
CompareItFirst is designed for shoppers in the United States, and the prices and stores shown are US offers. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Where the European Union or United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation applies to our processing, Jules Media LLC is the controller. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Site and in measuring store-link clicks; on your request when we reply to your emails; and on our legal obligations where applicable. You may have the rights described above, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children
The Site is a general-audience shopping service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access to the Site’s administration. No website or transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Other websites
Our Site links to retailers and other websites that we do not operate, and our videos are hosted on YouTube, which is operated by Google under its own privacy policy. When you buy from a retailer, the retailer collects your order, payment and delivery information under its own privacy policy. Please review the privacy policies of any website you visit.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change, for example if we add analytics, a newsletter, automatic deletion of click records or new retailer partners. We will change the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you more prominently on the Site.
