CompareItFirst earns money in two ways: affiliate commissions and paid sponsorships. This page explains both, and how we keep them separate from our price comparisons.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Who we are
CompareItFirst.com is operated by Jules Media LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. You can reach us at hello@jules.media.
1. Affiliate links (paid links)
Most store buttons and links on CompareItFirst are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, the retailer or affiliate network may pay us a commission. You do not pay extra because you came from CompareItFirst. Commissions help keep this price-comparison service free.
We currently participate in these affiliate programs:
- Amazon Associates. CompareItFirst participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- impact.com. We earn commissions through the impact.com affiliate network from brands whose online stores we list, such as brands that sell directly from their own websites.
If we join other affiliate programs, we will update this page. A store appearing on CompareItFirst does not mean that it sponsors or endorses us.
2. Sponsored placements on the Site
Brands may pay us to feature their products on CompareItFirst, for example in a highlighted spot on a page. Any such paid placement is clearly labeled “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” where it appears. A sponsored placement is different from an ordinary affiliate link: the brand pays for visibility, whether or not anyone buys.
Sponsorship can affect which products we feature in labeled spots. It never changes:
- the prices that retailers charge or that we display;
- the order of offers in our price comparisons; or
- which offer we show as the lowest price or lowest new price.
3. Sponsored videos
Brands sometimes sponsor our YouTube videos or provide products for them. When a video is sponsored, or features a product we received for free, we say so in the video itself and in its description. Our videos and their descriptions also contain affiliate links, including direct Amazon links, and we say that in each video and description too.
4. How our price comparisons work
- Ranked by item price only. On product pages, offers are listed by item price, lowest first. Shipping, taxes and other charges are not included in the ranking, because retailers do not always tell us those costs. Check the retailer’s checkout for the final total.
- Independent of commissions and sponsorships. Neither affiliate commission rates nor sponsorship payments affect the order of offers, the prices shown, or which offer is shown as the lowest price.
- Current prices only. Prices come only from authorized sources: retailers’ affiliate data services (such as Amazon’s), brand product catalogs provided through impact.com, and manual entry. We do not scrape retailer websites. Each offer shows when its price was last checked. Prices we can no longer confirm are not shown as current offers. We do not show price history.
- Limited coverage. We list offers from retailers and brands we can get authorized price data from, and many of them pay us commissions. We do not cover every store or every seller. The lowest price we show is the lowest among the offers we list, not necessarily the lowest price available anywhere.
- Price gaps. Where a page shows a price gap (for example, “$20 less than the highest current price”), it is the difference between the highest and lowest current prices we list for that product. It is not a guarantee of savings.
Prices and availability change frequently. The price shown on the retailer’s website at the time of purchase is the one that applies.
5. Click tracking
When you click a store link, we record an anonymous click count: which product and store, the price shown, the time, the website you came from (domain only), and whether you used a mobile or desktop device. We do not store your IP address or set a cookie for this. Retailers and affiliate networks may use their own cookies after you arrive on their sites, to credit us for your purchase. See our Privacy Policy for details.
